BARBRI SQE Mentor Scheme
The Aim of Our Mentorship Programme
Following the success of BARBRI’s inaugural mentoring programme in 2024, we are now offering SQE1 students and alumni the opportunity to take part once again.
The objective of the BARBRI mentoring programme is to accelerate the personal and professional development of our students as they start their SQE journey and consider their career ambitions. This can be achieved by providing mentees with advice, guidance and feedback from mentors with more experience than themselves.
The BARBRI mentoring programme aims to provide a bridge between our students’ learning and the working world, allowing young talent to grow in confidence in the legal field, building professional skills and commercial knowledge.

How Does it Work?
Mentors apply for the programme by signing up on the link below. The deadline for applications is 7 March 2025.
Mentees are chosen according to motivation, ambition and the passion to learn more about specific areas within the legal sector. Diversity and inclusion is at the forefront of choosing mentees with a particular focus on those who come from an underrepresented group.
Mentors are asked to commit to a minimum of 1 hour engagement per month for a minimum of 4 months to support a mentee. Students that are successful in joining the mentorship programme are asked to provide a feedback form at the end of their mentoring journey.

Accessibility + Inclusivity
Once mentors and mentees are matched, the first introduction should be done by email. All mentors and mentees can choose their preferred form of communication, but we suggest contact via email and phone for regular updates and feedback. Any events (including training and meetups) are to be held virtually to allow the programme to be as accessible as possible.
What We Ask From Our Mentors
We highly encourage our mentors and mentees to share good news stories, initiatives, and activities with us by completing a testimonial at the end of the mentorship programme highlighting their experience and journey.
