What does the SQE mean for you?
The SQE is being introduced to provide a more accessible path into the legal profession. It is replacing the current route, which consists of completing the Legal Practice Course (LPC) route or the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) along with a two-year training contract. Those looking to qualify will now have more options for prep and work experience.

Key Course Features
Your path to qualification
In addition to passing the two stages of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam, candidates must complete two years of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) to become a solicitor.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has set out competencies that candidates must take into consideration when completing their QWE. This is a period of two years of work experience in a legal environment, in up to four positions. As a legal professional, you are likely on track to completing the QWE required for becoming a solicitor via the SQE route. All it takes it is to have your experience signed off by a qualified solicitor or a COLP. You can find out more on the SRA website here.
Note that if you already have an LPC, you are exempt from the first stage of the SQE exam, meaning you would only need to prepare and pass SQE2.

If you're currently in a full-time job, we recommend that you take our Flexible SQE1 Prep course. This course runs for 40 weeks leading into the SQE1 exams and only requires 10-12 hours of study each week.
