Alisa Gray

Learning Director
Subject: Prep for Practice, SQE Foundations, Negotiation Skills

Alisa is a Director of Learning at BARBRI, responsible for the design and delivery of substantive legal and business skills training programmes including the Prep for Practice programme. Alisa is a qualified solicitor with over 10 years’ experience in private practice, in both fee earning and support lawyer roles, at Wilde Sapte, Allen & Overy and Linklaters. She is an experienced trainer and is part of BARBRI’s SQE faculty. Alisa delivered postgraduate law at Kaplan Law School and was a QLTS business law exam writer (MCT and OSCE) and assessor for over 6 years, forming part of Kaplan’s original QLTS faculty. Alisa has an MSc in organisational psychology and is continuing her research into lawyers’ wellbeing as a PhD.

Alison is a freelance tutor for BARBRI helping with marking, PFAs and mock assessments for SQE. Alison qualified as a solicitor in 1991 at Irwin Mitchell specialising in family where she became a partner from 1997 until 2007. Partner at Taylor Bracewell 2007 until 2018. Solicitor and Collaborative Family lawyer at Switalskis from 2018 until retirement 2024. Assessor in Children Accreditation for the Law Society from 2012 to 2016. Appointed HM Assistant Coroner in 2016 until 2021.

Andrea is a UK qualified lawyer, who develops and delivers technical and skills training programmes to a broad range of commercial clients and law firms. She has more than 20 years’ experience in negotiating and drafting commercial contracts and resolving disputes. Andrea has worked as a corporate lawyer in a top-20 law firm in the UK, acting for a broad range of commercial clients, investors, and financial institutions in domestic and international transactions, and as UK legal counsel for an international manufacturing company.

Aruna Verma has a LLB Hons and then went onto complete her LPC. She has been a solicitor since 2005 practising mainly litigation. Aruna has extensive experience of attending court, client interviewing and legal research.

Charlotte is a qualified solicitor, and has worked in private practice at Stephenson Harwood and Mills & Reeve, as well as in central government at DEFRA and the Law Commission. Since deciding to specialise in legal education, Charlotte has taught on the Legal Practice Course at BPP University, and at the University of London and the Open University. She has experience of teaching a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational law and skills courses and is a Fellow of Advance HE.

Christina Guarisco

Christina is a Senior Legal Editor at BARBRI. She sat for the SQE1 Pilot Exam and has worked closely with our UK authors in preparing BARBRI’s QLTS and SQE study guides as well as multiple-choice questions and answer explanations. Christina is a subject matter expert in Evidence and Professional Conduct. She has created and edited a wide variety of legal educational content for the U.S. market, including substantive outlines of law, practice multiple-choice and essay questions, lecture scripts, and assorted learning activities.

After completing her Law Degree at the University of Sheffield Clare qualified as a solicitor in 1984, specialising in private client work. She returned to the University of Sheffield in 1994 to help establish the LPC, which she led at various times. She retired from the University in 2020 and joined Barbri as a freelancer working on the QLTS and SQE2.

Professor Claire McGourlay

Claire is a Professor of Legal Education at The University of Manchester and a National and Principal Fellow of the HEA. She is the Director of External Relations and is also the Director of the Miscarriages of Justice Review Centre. Claire is driving forward the integration of legal tech into the curriculum and has helped create the Manchester Justice HUB in partnership with students.

Dr Craig Prescott

Consultant Trainer

Craig has taught at the University of Manchester and King’s College London and is now the Director of Centre for Parliament and Public Law at The University of Winchester. His expertise is in Public Law, with a specific focus on constitutional law, particularly Parliament, Brexit and the monarchy. Craig is the co-author of the undergraduate textbook, Public Law, published by Oxford University Press, and is currently writing a book on the future of the monarchy. He also blogs and regularly contributes to the media to discuss the latest political and constitutional news.

Dan Hill

Dan qualified with Slaughter and May as a solicitor in 1996 and joined the University of Law in 2000. Dan undertook teaching, curriculum development and management roles before becoming Director of Educational Development in 2015. He has worked as a freelance educational consultant since 2017, including work for the SRA as an Equivalent Means Assessor. He has also worked on BARBRI’s QLTS Prep, as a mentor on the MCT course and as a tutor on the OSCE course.

Edwin Parks

Subject: SQE2 

Edwin is a tutor for BARBRI. He is a barrister qualified in both England and Wales and in New Zealand. In England and Wales he has appeared in both civil and criminal litigation. In New Zealand he formerly practised as a solicitor specialising in both commercial and criminal law. He has taught at the University of Law on both the LPC and BPTC. Currently, he specialises in European Union law, international law, ADR and immigration and Asylum law.

Emily is BARBRI's Senior Tutor with programme lead responsibility for SQE1. Emily practised at the independent and employed criminal bar as a defence barrister for 2 years before moving into higher education and joining BPP. Emily worked as a lecturer at BPP for 10 years, teaching criminal law, land law and various skills modules both face-to-face and online. She also undertook managerial and developmental roles at BPP, including Head of Modules on the GDL and LLB programmes.

Emma is a non-practising solicitor and freelance SQE2 trainer. She was Called to the Bar in 2006 and cross-qualified as a solicitor in 2012, having worked extensively as a County and High Court Advocate. Emma has experience in private practice as a civil and commercial litigator and has also worked as a lecturer at BPP University Law School, teaching across the LLB, GDL and LPC in the areas of Contract Law, the Law of Torts, Civil Litigation and Professional Skills in Practice, attaining Associate Fellowship of the HEA whilst holding this position. Emma is also a legal content expert, having authored academic texts for CILEx, and regularly produces engaging and high-quality content for a national commercial law firm and other niche businesses.

Gemma’s background is in Dispute Resolution, having practised for many years as a Professional Liability Specialist in a large city firm. Gemma managed claims against a wide range of professionals and advised insurers on policy coverage. She also defended actions brought against several Directors and Officers of leading UK companies.
 
Gemma is currently a non-practicing solicitor and legal trainer. She delivers courses, including the Client Care & Professional Standards (“CCPS”) core module on the Professional Skills Course (“PSC”). She is also an SQE 2 tutor, responsible for teaching and assessing modules covering both civil and criminal law.
 
Outside of law, Gemma is a director of a property management company, overseeing both residential and commercial property in London and the Home Counties.

Tutor

Gill is a tutor with BARBRI. Gill qualified as a solicitor with Wace Morgan in Shrewsbury specialising in Property, Wills and Trusts . She then went on to work for the University of Law where she became an Associate Professor. Gill designed courses and exams for the University of Law, the Open University and Cilex as well as gaining many years of teaching experience.

Helen has over 18 years of experience teaching, training and coaching UK and international lawyers. She qualified as a solicitor in 1999 with Charles Russell and joined BPP in 2006, leading both the professional development law and skills programmes for trainee and qualified lawyers and developing and leading the QLTT and QLTS courses. Following a successful decade at BPP, Helen was offered a position at Birmingham City University, where she worked for 3 years and was an associate professor and the SQE lead academic, also leading the Postgraduate Diploma in Law and the Master’s in Professional Law programmes. Helen now runs her own training consultancy and has been a learning coach on BARBRI’s SQE2 programme since early 2022. In addition to being a qualified solicitor (non-practising), Helen is a fellow of the Higher Education Authority and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education. She is also a certified coach, having completed her Certificate in Coaching at the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education in 2020.

Helen practised as a dispute resolution solicitor for over 25 years before establishing a consultancy company specialising in curriculum and qualification design and assessment for regulators, awarding bodies and publishers concerned with academic and vocational assessments across the legal profession.
Major projects include working with the SRA on the development of the SQE; with the Department for Education on the T level (legal); with the BSB on the curriculum and assessment strategy for Future Bar Training; with CILEX on the CILEX Professional Qualification (CPQ) and apprenticeship programme; and with the Costs Lawyers Standards Board on the restructuring of the costs lawyer route to qualification.
 
In addition to working with Barbri, Helen is currently Visiting Fellow at Leeds Law School; Chief Examiner for the BSB civil litigation assessment; CILEX Advanced Stage Chair of Examiners and Module Lead at the Professional and Foundation Stages, and a teaching and learning materials author for CILEX Law School apprenticeship programmes.
 
Helen holds an MSc in Summative Assessment, Learning and Teaching from the University of Oxford, a Post-graduate Diploma in Educational Assessment and Apprenticeships from the University of Cambridge, has QTLS status and is certified in the EQA and IQA of assessment processes.

Jane qualified as a solicitor at Hay and Kilner, Newcastle upon Tyne and practiced at Storrar Cowdry, Chester, specialising in civil litigation. She joined the College of Law as a tutor on the Legal Practice Course and was subsequently appointed Senior Tutor. She is a fellow of HE Advaance. In 2021 Jane joined the BARBRI team as Tutor and Learning Coach for the QLTS and SQE.

Janine qualified as a solicitor in 1997, working as a commercial litigator in city law firms. She left private practice to become a freelance legal trainer. In 2020, Janine launched legal consultancy, Artistic Brief, advising clients in the creative industries on legal and commercial issues. Janine is a personal tutor on the SQE2.

Joanne qualified as a solicitor at Hammonds (now Squire Patton Boggs) in 2005, specialising in Employment law. After 14 years in practice, she joined the University of Law as the Academic Manager in 2019; part of that role included teaching on the LPC and GDL. Joanne joined BARBRI in 2021 as a Tutor on the QLTS programme and a Learning Coach on the SQE.

Karlyn Ruth Meyer

Senior Product Manager of Bar Review Curriculum

Karlyn is the Senior Product Manager of Bar Review Curriculum at BARBRI and has been with the company for nearly 10 years. She, too, sat for the SQE1 Pilot Exam and has worked closely with BARBRI’s contributors in creating its QLTS course materials. She previously worked as a legal editor and subject matter expert in Real Property and Commercial Law. She has taken and passed four U.S. bar exams. Currently, Karlyn creates and delivers digital content and lectures for bar review and law students.

Katharine is a freelance tutor at Barbri for the SQE2 preparation programme. With a background in biomedical research spanning nearly two decades, Katharine transitioned into the legal field and successfully qualified as a solicitor in 2012. She worked in dispute resolution, property and transport law at Dyne Solicitors Limited. Notably, Katharine also served as the coordinator and treasurer of the Heavy Transport Association, In 2018 Katharine then worked as an associate tutor at the University of Law, before joining Barbri in 2022.

Laura Rowley

Laura is a freelance tutor for BARBRI on the SQ2 prep course. Laura trained at Eversheds LLP before moving to DLA Piper upon qualification in 2007, specialising in regulatory law, including health and safety and environmental law.  She later moved in-house to prosecute environmental crimes for the Environment Agency.  More recently, Laura worked as a regulatory solicitor for Birmingham City University dealing with student issues such as fitness to practise and consumer law.  Laura joined the BARBRI team in July 2022 as a freelance tutor on the SQE2 preparation course. Laura particularly enjoys helping students with advocacy assessments.

Kayleigh Humphreys

Kayleigh is a Learning Coach on the SQE.  She trained with Pinsent Masons LLP and qualified as a solicitor with the same in 2013, specialising in Property Dispute Resolution.  She moved into legal education in 2018, joining the University of Law where she was a Senior Tutor teaching face to face and online, across a range of courses including SQE, LPC, GDL and LLB.  Kayleigh is a fellow of the Higher Education Authority and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.

Lorraine Richardson

Lorraine Richardson M. A. (Cantab) is an experienced property lawyer, and teaches, designs and delivers property and legal skills-related courses, online materials and webinars. Lorraine is a co-editor of the Law Society publication ‘Conveyancing Forms and Procedures’ and is the major contributor to the monthly update journal for solicitors, the ‘Practical Lawyer.’ At the University of Law, Lorraine managed the very successful Higher Rights of Audience programme and was responsible for dealing with all academic issues, including ensuring the integrity of assessment processes (both written and advocacy) and reviewing all assessment results. Lorraine has designed and delivered course manuals, mock assessments and online lectures for BARBRI’s QLTS course and is a tutor for students on the course and an assessor in the mock OSCE assessments.

Khurram Qureshi

In Pakistan, Khurram Amir Qureshi became qualified to practice law in 2004. He authored twenty-eight law guides for Pakistani students. 2009 saw him become a solicitor of England and Wales, and from 2012 to 2015, he served as one of Abbott Solicitors Luton's founding partners. He started his own legal practice in 2015 and is currently the head of a Luton law firm. He specialises in immigration law and personal injury Law. In 2012, he earned the Teaching in Further Education Qualification (DTLLS). Since 2015, he has been an Ireland's non-practicing solicitor. He taught company law, commercial law and employment law as a visiting lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire in 2022–2023 to graduate and postgraduate students. In 2023, he joined the BARBRI team as a trainer on a part time basis.

Louisa Noel

Louisa trained and qualified at Linklaters and practised as a finance lawyer there for 10 years. Since then, she has been involved with a range of not-for-profits, before joining Barbri as a freelance tutor. Louisa has tutored for QLTS and now coaches candidates on our SQE2 Prep course, as well as designing, writing and delivering courses to help aspiring solicitors prepare for corporate and finance practice.

Lucinda Pattison

Lucy is a Learning Coach on the SQE. She qualified as a solicitor at a medium-sized firm in Buckinghamshire, specialising in property and land law. Lucy dealt with both commercial and residential property transactions before becoming head of the firm’s residential conveyancing department. Lucy moved into legal education in 2008, becoming a Senior Lecturer at the University of Westminster, teaching on a range of courses and leading Land Law on the Law LLB Honours Degree and Property Law & Practice and Commercial Property on the Legal Practice Course. She was also Deputy Director of the LPC and a consultant in the University’s Legal Advice Clinic. Lucy is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education.

Lydia Harrison

Lydia qualified as a solicitor in 1996. She worked at commercial firm Berg & Co in Manchester for 6 years before moving into legal education. Lydia was a senior tutor at the University of Law where she taught on a wide range of face to face and online courses and was Programme Lead for the post-graduate law conversion course. Lydia is a tutor and mentor on BARBRI's QLTS course and is a fellow of HE Advance.

Maureen Mitchell

VP of Curriculum

Maureen is the Senior Director of Curriculum for BARBRI Bar Review. In addition to her curricular duties, Maureen is a subject matter expert in Real Property, Contracts, and Estates. She has a B.A. in Journalism and a J.D. from the University of Michigan. Maureen has passed three U.S. bar exams, as well as the QLTS MCT.

Mike Winston is a solicitor-advocate (all courts), a freelance legal trainer and a learning and development consultant.
 
He has over 25 years of experience as a litigator and advocate and has handled a wide variety of matters from simple debt actions to injury claims of the utmost severity (brain injuries, spinal injuries and amputations). He is an experienced legal trainer, holding a CIPD qualification in learning and development.
 
Since 2002, Mike has designed and delivered training courses on a variety of litigation and advocacy subjects for all levels of law, winning a National Training Award in 2011. He is a trainer and assessor for the SRA’s Higher Rights of Audience, the Bar Transfer Test and CILEx Civil Advocacy and Litigation Rights qualification.
 
Mike is also the editor of the CILEx course manual on Civil Litigation.

Nick Hancock

Nick trained at Linklaters and practised there and at several other major firms. He joined the College of Law in 1997, eventually becoming an Associate Professor and Head of Designers. He has worked as a freelance tutor and course designer since 2013, including for City Law School, The University of Law, QLTS Advantage and CILEx, where he is a Chair of Examiners. He is also a freelance translator of legal texts for clients including Guildhawk and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Odessa Alm

Manager of Intl Student Support

Odessa is the Manager of International Student Support at BARBRI, managing the U.S. Extended Bar Preparation Programme Mentor Team and personally serving as a mentor as well. She became a licensed attorney in the United States 16 years ago and her experience includes roles as Assistant Dean of Student Success, Assistant Professor of Law, and Director of Bar Preparation Programmes at three U.S. law schools. She designed and taught more than 15 different bar preparation and student success courses delivered in-person and online. Odessa is a three-time recipient of the Faculty Vision Award, and she has been a frequent speaker and panellist at Law School Admission Council, Southeastern Association of Law Schools, and American Bar Association conferences. Odessa also designed and teaches BARBRI supplemental workshops, which are intended to share reading, essay writing, and exam-taking strategies, alongside providing an opportunity for student-to-student and student-to-mentor interaction.

Rachel Charman

Rachel is a lawyer-linguist. She graduated in Chinese from Oxford University and National Taiwan Normal University. She worked as a solicitor for eleven years and at the University of Law for 13 years, rising to Associate Professor and Design Manager. She now works part-time teaching the LLB at the University of Birmingham and since 2013 has run her own training business, ‘Rachel Charman English and Law’. Main activities through that business currently include:
 
• For Barbri: Examiner in SQE 2 PFA and Mock Interviewing and Advocacy for BARBRI.com. SQE1 MCQ assessment designer.
• For the Chinese government: designing and delivering bespoke courses in English Law for lawyers, judges, government ministers and police officials from China.
• Remote teaching on the JD program at Dalian Maritime University, China.

Rachel Schindelar

Executive Editor

Rachel is a Legal Editor at BARBRI and has been with the company for five years. Station Rd helped guide our UK subject matter experts for BARBRI’s study guides as well as its multiple-choice questions and answer explanations. She is a subject matter expert in Criminal Law, Trusts, and Wills.

Richard Jones

OSCE tutor

After obtaining an MA in Law from Cambridge University Richard Jones qualified as a solicitor specialising in Private Client work. He joined the University of Law (then the College of Law) in 1977. In a 40-year career at the University Richard taught on graduate and undergraduate courses, as well on public courses for trusts solicitors. He co-authored the Equity module on the original Open University Law degree. He designed numerous courses and assessments. Appointed Associate Professor in 2002, Richard was subject leader in Equity at the University for 20 years. He is a pension scheme trustee and an examiner for CILEX.

Richard works as a Freelancer on BARBRI’s SQE2 programme. He is a partner at Bignon De Keyser, a consultancy dedicated to the legal industry. He worked as Chief Legal Operations Officer at Herbert Smith Freehills. Before that, he was responsible for learning and development at Andersen Legal, EY Law and the Corporate practice at Linklaters, where he designed and delivered a range of management and development programmes for lawyers and other professionals.

Robin Jones

Robin Jones

Robin Jones qualified as a solicitor in 1984 and worked in private practice in North Wales before joining the North Wales Prosecuting Solicitors Department in 1985. When the CPS was set up in 1986 he transferred into the CPS where he worked until leaving in March 2012. During that period he dealt with a wide range of cases and carried a varied and serious caseload.
 
Robin is an experienced Magistrates` Court advocate, having appeared in court for over 30 years. He is also an experienced advocacy assessor.
 
Robin was involved with training in the CPS from 2001 and from 2008 until he left held the position of Legal Development Manager, which involved the design delivery and management of training for staff within the service, including lawyers and paralegals.
 
Robin achieved a distinction in his Certificate in Training Practice in 2009. Since leaving the CPS Robin has written and delivered training for a number of training providers, including Barbri Altior, where he has delivered elements of the Professional Skills Course. He also assesses PFAs and Mocks on the SQE2 including Advocacy and Research.

Roy Morgan

Roy is lead advocacy trainer at BARBRI Altior. Roy is a solicitor-advocate with over 30 years’ experience in private practice and a Certified Fraud Examiner. Roy founded his own practice in 1985 which grew to become one of the largest practices in Wales and joint top criminal law firm. Roy was the former chairperson of LAPG, a former president of Cardiff and District Law Society, has given evidence before the Select Committee on the delivery of legal services and sits on various working groups. Involved for over 25 years in training, assessment and course writing he is part of the BARBRI SQE faculty team.

Rukhsana is a qualified solicitor, having trained and practised at DLA Piper for 10 years, specialising in pension funds and corporate practice. She has since worked as a freelance lawyer on demand and is an experienced trainer, involved in writing and delivering professional development material.
 
Rukhsana is also a board trustee involved in all areas of corporate governance and strategic planning.
 
Rukhsana joined the BARBRI team as a freelance trainer and tutor.

Sally Cater

Sally worked in private practice in Cardiff for 10 years, specialising in property law. She then joined HM Land Registry where she worked for 25 years. As part of her role there, she was the Land Registrar with responsibility for training all HM Land Registry lawyers.

Sarah qualified as a solicitor with Bermans and practised in commercial litigation.  In 1992 she joined the Crown Prosecution Service and remained there for 30 years, undertaking a varied caseload of criminal litigation.

Sophy Gupta

Sophy trained and practised as a solicitor at Addleshaw Goddard, gaining experience in commercial and corporate practice and specialising in employment law. In 2006, Sophy joined BPP University as a lecturer on the Legal Practice Course, teaching business, employment and commercial and IP law, as well as skills-based modules. Since 2013, Sophy has worked as a freelance tutor, examiner and materials designer for a number of organisations including BPP and, since 2019, BARBRI on their QLTS and then SQE preparation courses.

Steve is a Professor of Law and leading advocate of Clinical Legal Education. He has lead the establishment and development of student legal Clinics at The University of Law, University of Sunderland, King's College London and the University of York. He qualified as a solicitor in the Government Legal Service and his teaching interests include clinical legal education, interdisciplinary education, legal and professional skills, and public interest litigation."

Stephanie Jones

Stephanie qualified as a solicitor in 1993, having completed a training contract with Wragge & Co. (now Gowling WLG). In 1994, she moved to UCLan teaching across many programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels but with a particular involvement in the Legal Practice Course until 2023. As a senior lecturer, she specialised in Business and Intellectual Property Law. Stephanie maintained her practising certificate to set up and run the Business Law Clinic advising a wide range of SMEs on contracts, GDPR, IP and other non-contentious matters. She has spoken at conferences worldwide on the benefits of clinical legal education. Stephanie has been heavily involved in the transition and development of materials from LPC to SQE 1 and 2 such that she can continue to be involved in training the next generation of solicitors.

Steve Levin

Vp of Intl Dev & Legal Writing

Steve is BARBRI’s Vice President of International Development. He sat for the SQE1 Pilot Exam and scored in the top 10% on that exam. He has passed the QLTS MCT and has taken the QLTS OSCE exam. For more than 30 years, Steve has been preparing the materials that BARBRI’s students have studied to pass their U.S. bar exams, including substantive outlines, essay answers, multiple choice questions, and lectures. Steve also has experience teaching legal writing and lecturing on various legal topics in classroom settings. Steve has passed 11 U.S. bar exams, including New York and California. Steve is a subject matter expert in Business Organisations, U.S. Constitutional Law, Contracts, and Criminal Procedure. Steve also is Regulation (Law) National Editor for Becker Professional Education. Becker prepares students to pass the Certified Public Accountants exam in the United States and, like BARBRI, is the leading review course of its kind in the U.S.. Over 1.75 million attorneys and CPAs have relied on Steve’s explanations of law to obtain their licenses.

Suzanne Reece

Senior Tutor
Subject: SQE

Suzanne is a Senior Tutor at BARBRI with Programme Lead responsibilities for BARBRI’s SQE2 preparation course. Suzanne has 20 years' experience as a qualified solicitor in the areas of private client and personal injury work with law firms such as Berrymans Lace Mawer and DAC Beachcroft. Suzanne was also a lecturer with University of Law and City Law School on a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and Bar vocational courses prior to joining BARBRI as a Senior Tutor. Suzanne is the founder and director of Inspired to Study Ltd.

Theresa Wright

Theresa Wright qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Grant Thornton LLP specialising in lead advisory and tax. She joined Kaplan Financial as a tutor in 2007 and was involved in the development of the professional and advanced tax modules for ACA and ACCA. She now works as a freelance tax consultant including both writing and delivering tax training.

Tracy Savage

Learning Director, tutor, course designer and course development
Subject: SQE1

Tracy is BARBRI’s Director of Learning with responsibility for the design and operation of SQE1 and SQE2 preparation programmes. Tracy qualified as a solicitor at DWF and practiced at Kent Jones & Done, specialising in real estate. She joined the College of Law as a tutor on the LPC, and in 2013 she was appointed an Associate Professor at the University of Law. In 2019 Tracy joined the BARBRI team as the Head of Academic programmes for the QLTS and SQE.

Vera McEwan

Vera McEwan

Consultant Trainer
Subject: SQE2

Vera is a qualified barrister and teacher with many years of experience. She has practised law in England and taught in several educational institutions in England and abroad including Hong Kong, Singapore and latterly in Jersey where she was a founding Professor of the Institute of Law. Vera was a Magistrate for 25 years and has wide judicial experience, especially in family and criminal law matters. Vera is also a Freeman of the City of London and has continuing involvement with educational institutions in the City.

Dr Wendy Laws

Wendy graduated in Law from Leeds University in 1982 (and in 2004 with a PhD) and was admitted as a solicitor in 1986. From 1986 to 2000 Wendy practiced in-house focusing on civil litigation, Wendy has also worked for the College of Law / University of Law as a senior lecturer on the LPC and GDL and has undertaken course design in Tort law for the GDL, the Open University LLB and the University of Law LLB. From 2009 Dr Laws has worked at York University Law School (YLS) as a problem-based learning tutor, and most recently has undertaken course designing for the BARBRI QLTS preparation programme. Wendy is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Wendy Nilsen

Wendy Nilsen

Subject: SQE2
Wendy is a barrister and former solicitor. She worked at the Crown Prosecution Service for many years as a senior solicitor advocate, before being called to the Bar at Gray’s Inn. She has prosecuted and defended many cases in the Crown Court.
Latterly, she became involved in legal education, gaining a PGC(AP) and becoming a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has worked with Barbri as a freelance trainer since 2022.
