The SQE with BARBRI

Legal education for the future

By embracing the disruptive influence of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and the liberalisation of the training contract, organisations and legal services providers can demonstrate a commitment to creating a new generation of innovative, collaborative, adaptable and diverse lawyers.

We are proud to have built a number of preferred and exclusive partnerships with law firms, ALSPs and organisations to provide their aspiring lawyers with everything they need to excel. This is an exciting opportunity for organisations to develop their talent strategies through adopting and investing in this new pathway to qualification.

What our clients say:

"When choosing an SQE partner, we sought out expertise and reputation in the industry. BARBRI has a strong track record in legal education and offered easy-to-use, user-friendly study materials that aligned with our goals for the LLM programme. The process was smooth and efficient and we would fully recommend BARBRI as a partner."

Brett Koenig, Associate Head of Law, Leicester De Montfort Law School (DMU)

“The introduction of the new Professional SQE training path is a significant step forward for our future trainees and the firm. We are very pleased to be able to offer an innovative new route that will enable our trainees to earn as they learn, which ensures we can attract a wider pool of talent to the firm.…We are strong supporters of the O Shaped Lawyer initiative; and its focus on preparing solicitors to be an effective business partner has been key in our choice of model. Our clients are regularly asking for lawyers with commercial skills and this ensures that our trainees will start their careers one step ahead.”

Brigid North, Reed Smith training principal

"We were very struck by BARBRI's overall offering for SQE provision, in particular, its ambition, dynamism and superlative use of technology, which aligns closely with our own ethos. Their pitch went above and beyond our expectations. But it was their position on, and commitment to, inclusion and diversity which really chimed with us. As a core pillar of the Firm's strategy, we know we want to go further, do better in this area - and BARBRI are going to help us to get where we want to be."

Stephen Ratcliffe, Baker McKenzie's Training Principal

“We aim to create a supportive environment that will help to guide students through their studies and careers. This collaboration with BARBRI will mean that our students can prepare for the new SQE with tried and tested preparation methods and access mentor support from industry experts.”

Dr Catherine Easton, Head of Lancaster University Law School

“BARBRI really is being brilliantly visionary, innovative and proactive in creating and delivering opportunities to those seeking to enter the profession, in particular, those where obstacles might appear insurmountable. Linklaters is delighted to work with BARBRI and Breaking Barriers in relation to its support of refugee lawyers and anticipates working on other important projects going forward. Watch this space.”

Patrick McCann, Director Learning for Linklaters LLP

“There is no national strategy to support refugees in the UK to take their first steps into work. This leads to unemployment, exclusion and untapped potential. With support from partners such as BARBRI, we can help people from a refugee background access the legal profession and acquire the knowledge, confidence, experience and qualifications they need to gain stable, fulfilling employment matching their skills and aspirations.”
