We are thrilled to share that we have been awarded the Best Legal Profession Supplier at the 2023 National Paralegal Awards.
The awards ceremony, in its fifth year, took place at the iconic Grand Hotel in Birmingham last night, celebrating the outstanding contributions of paralegals in the UK.
It was an honour to be recognised for our support as well as celebrating the remarkable work and achievements of paralegals across various roles, including those employed, self-employed, volunteers, and other businesses that support the profession. With a diverse range of categories, the awards reflected the multifaceted roles paralegals play in the legal sector and the valuable services they provide.
Commenting on the award, Lucie Allen, managing director for BARBRI, said: “Winning the Best Legal Profession Supplier award at the 2023 National Paralegal Awards is a testament to BARBRI’s unwavering commitment to supporting the legal profession in the UK.
“Our dedication to providing innovative, accessible, and effective preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Exam reflects our mission to empower aspiring solicitors and paralegals on their journey to qualification. This recognition reinforces our resolve to continue leading the way in legal education and professional development.”
At BARBRI, we truly aren’t just a typical legal education provider. We’re pioneers in diversifying the legal profession and nurturing talent in the industry. In the work we have been doing to support paralegals in particular, we’ve formed impactful partnerships, like the one we have with Flex Legal, an online platform supporting paralegal professionals. Thanks to this collaboration, 5,000 paralegals can now access scholarships and reduced fees for BARBRI SQE Prep, making it more affordable and accessible to kickstart their legal careers.
Additionally, we’re supporting LexisNexis and Pinsent Masons’s innovative paralegal trainee programme, which offers practical, supervised legal training alongside SQE Prep, providing a unique career pathway for aspiring solicitors.
In the last 12 months alone:
- 264 paralegals have taken their SQE Prep with BARBRI
- 61 of which report having passed both SQE1 and SQE2 assessments
- 83% of those who have passed both assessments also report having 2+ years of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE), which may have been gained before, during or after taking on the SQE assessments.
In the next year we are looking to build on this, and look forward to opening even more doors for future legal professionals.
